The first case of the COVID-19 pandemic in the Indian state of Karnataka was confirmed on 9 March 2020. Two days later, the state became the first in India to invoke the provisions of the Epidemic Diseases Act, 1897, which are set to last for a year, to curb the spread of the disease. Workers in the informal sector, particularly street vendors, construction workers, healthcare and gig economy workers are the most adversely impacted sections following the restrictions imposed to fight corona virus.
Chikkaballapura and Kolar districts are affected by this Pandemic. To address this COVID 19 Crisis,Arpanam Trust, supported by Comic Relief and Terre des Hommes-Netherlands, improves the lives and livelihoods of people from vulnerable and marginalized sections of society in Chikkaballapura and Kolar districts of Karnataka.
